About CDI Station
Customer Data Integration is a combination of technologies allowing companies to see the complete, integrated view of each customer. It frequently shows up in articles, discussions, and marketing literature as Single View of the Customer or 360 Degree View of the Customer. It is a critical component of, and often used interchangably with, Customer Experience Management (CEM), Customer Lifecycle Management (CLM), and Master Data Management (MDM). The disciplines required are core competencies in the fields of Knowledge Management (KM), Data Quality (DQ) and Enterprise Information Integration (EII). The CDI solution set is comprised of various architectural and software elements, which are often also used interchangably with CDI. These include the Customer Information File (CIF), Customer Master, Customer Hub, Operational Data Store (ODS) and software for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and elements of Data Warehousing and Analytics.Gartner Group defines Customer Data Integration as "the combination of the technology, processes and services needed to create and maintain an accurate, timely and complete view of the customer across multiple channels, business lines and, enterprises, where there are multiple sources of customer data in multiple application systems and databases". Forrester defines CDI as a "new category of software infrastructure that operationalizes the acquisition, distribution, and management of customer information."
CDI Station is a guide and a reference toolkit for deciphering this alphabet soup of converging technologies. Our goal is simple, to provide an information portal and discussion forum, bringing together resources from across the web and around the world to address the latest issues, products, technolgies, architectures and best practices to allow companies to realize the CDI vision.
CDI is an complex and emerging field, and you are invited to help shape the future with your questions, observations and comments. Step inside, look around, and tell us what you think. From neophyte to ninja, all levels of expertise are welcome. The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. Please feel free to contribute to any of the discussion threads, and if you have a question you would like to see addressed, drop us a line.
